2019 BATCH 'B' PROSPECTIVE CORPS MEMBERS, DEPLOYED TO ADAMAWA STATE SWORN–IN TODAY


The 2019 batch 'B' prospective corps members, deployed to Adamawa state sworn–in today by His Lordship, the chief judge of Adamawa state ably represented by Hon. Justice A.A Waziri, who administered the oath of allegience on the prospective corps members. 





The ceremony was precided over by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa state RT. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, ably represented by His Excllency the Deputy Governor of Adamawa state Hon. Crowther Set, who delivered his good will message and at the end declared the 2019 Batch 'B' orientation course formally open.







At the end of the ceremony His Excellency went round to inspect camp facilities, and conducted a tree planting campaign organized by a corps member Wana, serving with Radio Gotel Adamamawa state.

CULTURE AND TOURISM CDS STAGES A GRAND SENSITIZATION

The NYSC culture and tourism CDS group Adamawa state staged an impeccable sensitization on Friday, 14 June 2019. The event was held at St Peter's seminary, Yola north with the theme "Nigeria, culture and heritage".




The programme started at 11:45am with an opening prayer by one of the corp member after which  the NYSC and Nigerian national anthems were sang. A warm welcome speech by one of the school staff ushered the band to the stage. Many entertaining dance and message filled dramas were staged by members of the CDS.


A speech given by one of the corp members by name, Jerry Pascal stated that Nigeria is a nation with many ethnic groups and diverse cultures but we are one Nigeria, he further explained that, though westernization is good, we should never let it stand in the way of our rich cultural heritage.

 A closing remark by the CDS president, mr. Abbas Joshua brought another dance group to the stage which marked the end of the sensitization.

A brief interview with the acting rector of the seminary Fr. Lawrenc Oliver Baga, held by the members of editorial and publicity CDS. He expressed how grateful he was for the sensitisation and how important the theme is. He also stated that the school is looking forward to receiving more sensitizations from corp members.





The CDS president also affirmed during an interview with him that the purpose of the sensitzation is to instill in the students, the importance of the Nigerian cultural heritage. From their facial expressions, it is obvious that the message is passed, he concluded.
